Mindy Gledhill - “Prismatic”

Singer-songwriter Mindy Gledhill from the USA has just released the electro indie pop track, “Prismatic.”

Prismatic” with its dazzling, ethereal reverbed layers is a shimmering, translucent slice of chilled, disco-tinged indie pop. It oozes a sleek, feel-good dancefloor cool that you can’t help but get lost in.

What is really enjoyable about the track is the delicate use of instrumentation and the sense of space and openness. Landing somewhere between a less cluttered Goldfrapp and a funkier Beach House, we have bursts of neon synths locking in the earworm hooks, shimmering guitars lines, and a bubbly bass all anchored by the tight, dancefloor beat. The production is impeccable and every second is a treat to listen to.

Playing a crucial role in cementing the lush, immersive atmosphere are the sublime vocals of Mindy Gledhill. The performance is not only light-heartedly grand but also acts as an instrumental layer in itself. Some of the backing vocal sounds are reminiscent of Dave Sardy’s production of “Blue Mood Rising” by Noel Gallagher, oozing that same layered, textural quality.

The song draws on Mindy Gledhill’s time spent in Europe sampling the Spanish nightlife. Gledhill adds: “I felt like I could be free and just let go, exuberantly expressing myself through dancing. The song is kind of a memoir of that time.” “Prismatic” is a beautiful, polished celebration of the fun that can be had on a night out. The track is taken from the forthcoming LP, The Phone Booth Sessions Vol. 2.
