Michael B Thomas - “Berlin”

Michael B Thomas' stunning new song, “Berlin,” has just been released and it is catchy as hell. The scenario told in the song's lyrics is about someone embarking on their first vacation, touching on themes of existentialism and personal fulfilment along the road. The vocal delivery has a really warm groove– one that slowly swaggers through the surrounding guitar sounds.

Additionally, the music has a carefree, dreamlike vibe that fits the lyrical mood. All the aspects of the songs mix are “quirky,” but in a good way… it is the type of indie-folk song that I like to stumble upon. Warm, acoustic guitars and mellow synths that pad out the slow drums help push the song forward, almost chugging along… giving the feel of a stroll in the sun. “Berlin” definitely has a strong sense of nostalgia in its vibe. This track feels like it has given a few nods to Elliott Smith and, for me, bands like Blur when they were making “happy music.” This is a really decent track and I recommend that you check it out!

Thomas says: “Berlin tracks the thoughts running through someone's head as they embark on their first holiday abroad. It’s about wanting to see and do as much as possible with the limited time we’ve got. The idea for the song sort of came about during the initial weeks of lockdown when there was so much uncertainty around life, and the fact we couldn’t go anywhere. It also came with the realisation that I personally had only just gone away on my first ever trip abroad at the age of 24, a few months prior.”

Don’t worry, we didn’t forget about Spotify:
