French Cassettes - “Medium Horny”

Once again, we step outside of our usual flavors of sound in order to bring you the latest indie pop-rock tune from French Cassettes, entitled “Medium Horny.”

By pressing play on this one, you are signing a contract with your ears that you are about to experience one of the most fantastically chill productions that you will ever witness in your entire existence. The tender delivery of lyrical lines begins immediately, washing away the turbulence of another workweek and bidding hello to the brief, but needed solace of the weekend.

Medium Horny” contains all of the usual suspects within its arrangement, such as bass, guitar, and drums, but there is also this wonderful and arpeggiating synth-type sound that wraps its fingers around the entire production. We cannot determine whether or not it’s simply an effected guitar or some strange instrument from the future, but we find ourselves wanting more of it.

Around midpoint, the song switches directions with its first of seemingly countless dynamic shifts, heading down a jangly path of acoustic guitar that’s been cast atop a driving rhythm and illustrious vocal layering. For only being around three minutes in length, “Medium Horny” is a culmination of multiple styles and influences, but where it completely steals our hearts is in its final third, where all of the sounds reach an emotionally-charged climax.

Our words will never do it any justice– all we can say is that you simply do not want to miss the chance to press play on this one.
