Max Foreman - “Letter of Resignation”

LA-based producer Max Foreman has just released the nostalgic indie rock track, “Letter of Resignation.” The song serves as a sardonic ode to departing from a toxic work environment.

Letter of Resignation” is built around a delightful, steady rhythmic pulse created by two electric pianos. This foundation lends a satisfying unity to the track while evoking a sense of calm introspection. The brighter electric piano contributes a hazy, psych-tinged quality, enhancing the memorability of the groove. Accenting this pulse is the slick push of the drums, whilst a thick bass beautifully enhances the melodic lines of both the other instruments and vocal. The bass line feels very “Paul McCartney,” with its tight driving pulse.

Enhancing the vintage atmospherics, lush touches of rich mellotron add a dreamy sense of space and depth. Ascending and descending layers of synths build tension and intrigue. The acoustic guitar introduces another classic textural layer, but it is the sophisticated and elegant splashes of trumpet that steal the show. The suave, mellow tones coupled with that superb bass line really make this track feel like a classic deep cut.

The vocal of Max Foreman is coated in a smooth sense of relaxed authenticity. The cool performance has a slight hint of raspiness that gives the delivery a satisfying sense of bite in all the right places. The soulful, harmonising backing layers over the chorus, again, delightfully add to the retro vibes of “Letter of Resignation.”

Max Foreman has served up a real pleasing timeless treat with “Letter of Resignation.” It is a nostalgic delight, but it also offers a slick, modern vibe that you will find hard not to fall in love with. Connect with Max Foreman: Spotify | Instagram | X
