Dylan Seeger - “In Motion”
New York City-based singer-songwriter Dylan Seeger has just released “In Motion,” a beautifully heartfelt and introspective indie folk song.
“In Motion” is built around an elegantly simple, yet strikingly poignant arrangement that wonderfully supports the meditative lyrics. Acoustic guitar established a slow, rhythmic groove as it fleshes out the melody. The warm, resonant tones are delightfully unprocessed, helping to enhance the overall intimacy and authenticity. The atmosphere is rich in a reflective vulnerability. Other layers of acoustic guitar are applied over key sections to enhance the dynamics with punctuation on the chord progressions, or as a melodic embellishment that creates a sense of ebb and flow.
The only other accompanying instrument is an organ that is introduced before we reach the last verse of the track. This element adds a pleasing textural depth, helping to further immerse the listener in the ambiance of the track. It is Seeger’s vocal that truly makes this track special. His performance is magnificently melancholic and soulful in its delivery. Much like the acoustic guitar, the vocal is not overly polished, which further enhances the emotional sentiment behind the track. Backing vocals are applied sparingly and they beautifully lift the composition whilst helping to deepen the listeners connection to the words.
