Lydia Luce - “Never Enough”

Nashville-based artist Lydia Luce has just released “Never Enough,” a gorgeous and mesmerising song that is tinged with lush psychedelic elements.

Never Enough” starts out with an acapella-like beginning before a cool, relaxed groove is established by the drums. Gently fingerpicked acoustic guitar and splashes of piano form the main structure of the track’s arrangement. Muted electric guitar adds a subtle groove whilst the composition’s foundation is provided by a great bass line. All the elements feel warm and gentle. The song, for me, is comparable the work of the band Air.

The soft backing harmonies and Luce’s delicate, breathy vocals combine to produce an absorbing sound. You feel like you are being walked through a dream by the way the lyrics are delivered. The reflective lyrics lead the listener on a voyage of self-discovery. “Never Enough” draws on the idea of finding contentment and the enlightening properties of magic mushrooms is explored in this gentle introspective and trippy composition.

The artist says: “I’m always thinking about tomorrow and of what I want or need that will surely make me happy, and I end up getting in the way of my own happiness. The second verse refers to the feeling of a mushroom trip. When I’m tripping, I’m always reminded that I don’t need anything and nothing really matters. Everything is happening exactly as it’s supposed to.”

Never Enough,” by Lydia Luce, is a captivating song that is full of beautiful, warm, and dreamy elements. This is definitely not one to miss.
