Little Lungs - “Insomniac”

Little Lungs, from Baltimore, Maryland, have just released the glowing, cinematic indie rock track, “Insomniac.”

Insomniac” is not one of those songs that grabs you by the collar or explodes with energy. This is a composition that drifts in, sits beside you and gently glows. It is quietly confident, pushing forward with its disarming drum beat and warm, vibrant bass. It lets every element settle in its natural place, as if perfectly constructed for a film montage.

And those layers can only be described as perfect. The gentle, inevitable strum of acoustic guitar, the chiming flicker of clean electric guitar and the wistful atmosphere of pedal steel all melt into each other. Intimate, magnetic, tailor made for reflection at dawn.

At the heart sits an intimate, reflective and thoughtful vocal performance. It radiates emotion, rising up from conversational tones to fill the song with melodic warmth. Breathing with the music and cementing the widescreen, sincere and sweeping mood of the poetic, introspective lyrics. Those lyrics capture the strange suspended feelings of a sleepless night. The movement of the outside world and the drift of memories and fragmentation of thought. Hovering between fragility and the calm of an early morning.

Luminous and exquisitely atmospheric, “Insomniac” is taken from new record The Heat which is out today. Connect with Little Lungs: Spotify | Bandcamp | Instagram | Facebook
