Landroid - “Autonomous”

From their forthcoming LP, Constellation, Cooper Gillespie and Greg Gordon, aka Landroid, have just released their new single “Autonomous.”

This track is a slow-burning bout of introspection, inviting you to look back on your life and wonder if it was ever truly yours to begin with. Built on a seemingly never-ending emotional canvas, “Autonomous” spends the first two thirds of its existence in a vulnerable state, carried by ethereal tones, an angelic choir, and a psychedelically tinged vocal performance.

But your patience will be rewarded, and once “Autonomous” nears the two-minute mark, the arrangement suddenly gives way to heavy-hitting drums and a deep, distorted bass line. This newfound momentum carefully reframes the earlier vulnerability rather than completely leaving it behind.

Landroid adds that “Autonomous” is “…the reckoning that comes when you finally have to ask: was I making choices, or just following a script I never knew I'd inherited?” This idea lingers long after the song has ended, leaving us with both unease and an oddly fitting sense of clarity.

If you find yourself sifting through the darkness in search of musical accompaniment, Landroid’s newest single “Autonomous” is now available everywhere you get your music. Connect with the duo here: Facebook | Instagram | Spotify | TikTok
