Lacy Green - “The Dreaming Kind”

Nashville-based singer-songwriter Lacy Green, steps into the spotlight with the compelling indie folk track, “The Dreaming Kind.”

Nashville is a city that has never been short of storytellers, but Lacy Green proves that there is always room for another voice that carries a great melody and a plain-spoken truth. Reaffirming that substance is never overshadowed by polish and that the song is always the most important thing for an artist.

The Dreaming Kind” has a vivid, straight up and deeply personal character that is reminiscent of Sheryl Crow’s style of storytelling. The song feels conversational, drawing you in quietly and allowing the story to breathe with ease. Lacy Green doesn’t use the music to create drama or resolution, she trusts you as a listener to lean in and understand.

This is no bar room stomper– this is a breezy, cinematic anthem that is stylishly produced yet never veering into slick or saccharine. It moves with intention at a mesmeric pace, allowing space and atmosphere to become the emotional pull.  If anything, the composition is a masterclass in restraint.

The interweaving of the different elements creates an elaborate sound collage. Acoustic textures of guitar, violin, upright bass radiate onto layers of electric guitar and electric piano– almost like watching sunlight ripple across open water. This is thoughtful and authentic musicianship.

Lacy Green serves up a confident and assured vocal delivery that gives “The Dreaming Kind” a genuine and timeless feeling. The tones always stay warm and natural avoiding unnecessary vocal flourishes to try and force the song to sound more important.  Each line feels considered and not performed in the best possible way.

Lyrically, this track is a character-driven story of a female protagonist that slips back and forth between reality and imagination. Luminous and radiant, “The Dreaming Kind” is taken from Lacy Green’s forthcoming album releasing later this year. Connect with her here: Spotify | Soundcloud | Instagram | TikTok | Apple Music
