Justin Sconza - “Suddenly”

Chicago-based singer-songwriter Justin Sconza is back on the blog with “Suddenly,” the third single from his latest album, Standards.

Sconza never ceases to amaze us with his innate ability to channel the likes of The Beatles and The Shins, topping it all off with a bit of Elliott Smith. “Suddenly” brings us more of this lo-fi, mellifluous candy for the ears, built upon a chill and vintage-tinged rhythm section that slowly waltzes its way to the center of your earthly existence.

A multi-tracked vocal performance provides the warm glow of nostalgia for the days when songs were cooked in the creaminess of analogue outboard gear. In fact, if you told us that “Suddenly“ was a long lost recording from yesteryear, the production is all the evidence that we would need in order to believe you.

Speaking on the track, Sconza offers that “‘Suddenly’ is about how life isn’t what you thought it would be. The world is a dark place. But then somebody comes along that makes everything ok and what a wonderful thing that is.” A keen retro vibe with introspection to boot– you simply cannot go wrong by pressing that play button.
