jasper dean – “TELEMONKEY”

Detroit’s jasper dean debuts on the blog with the wildly intoxicating “TELEMONKEY.”

TELEMONKEY” is a bombastic four minutes of riveting and bold music production. It hits hard, packing the attitude and punch of dance pop with the warped synthetic gloss of experimental electronic. Crossbreeding the slick, gritty worlds of ALIAS, early Death in Vegas and LCD Soundsystem would get you close. Yes, this is music to make you shake your ass or to put on your favourite headphones and marvel at the methodically orchestrated anarchy that unfolds.

Giving the track its infectious dance engine room are the disciplined, driving drums. They create the feeling of the kind of ebb and flow you would expect with a seismic tsunami. The funky bass sizzles and bounces with warmth underneath… it’s just impossible not to move to. jasper dean’s “TELEMONKEY” is dressed with a seemingly endless array of eclectic twiddly electronic noises, synth bursts, ragged guitar lines, and distortion.

The Detroit artist’s vocal performance sits inside of the mayhem, instead of on top of it. It carries a restrained and understated character, only rising up to nail the hook on the chorus perfectly. It’s less about singing to you and more about observing you from the inside of the track and daring you to come join. Lyrically, the track portrays a playful, slightly satirical character who, with a touch of style and a little confidence, can completely take over a room, turning the evening into a slice of debauchery.

TELEMONKEY” is taken from jasper dean’s debut album TOY COLLAGES slated for release on July 3rd. Connect with jasper dean: Spotify | Instagram
