Jane Deaux X.O, from the USA, debuts on the blog with the bedazzling, heartfelt indie pop rock ballad, “The Witness.”

The Witness” is a song that guides us through the splendour of modern indie rock, bringing to mind acts like Wolf Alice and Florence + The Machine. It is emotionally mature and mesmerising in every sense with dark, vulnerable tones blending with epic rousing layers. Together, the song perfectly captures the emotions of going through an identity crisis. There is anger, frustration, mourning but also acceptance and self-awareness.

Immaculately constructed over a heavy syncopated beat, the music feels like a lush sonic labyrinth. Uplifting synth organs tumble captivatingly with haunting guitar tones and angsty pads. The production choices and ear candy treatments make me think of producer William Orbit crossed with Butch Vig. Everything is perfectly recorded and majestically widescreen.

Jane Deaux X.O has such a captivating voice that feels like it is going through a cathartic emotional release. The performance shifts from quiet contemplation and melancholic softness to skyward tones effortlessly. Every note is perfectly placed and supported by gorgeously textured harmonies.

On the track, Jane Deaux X.O adds: “This debut single came from a journey of self-discovery after my last project disbanded and dropped from Universal Music Group. I started writing based on the title “The Witness” since it was the best way to describe my disassociation in that period of time. It is the song that speaks towards the “quarter-life crisis” and how it feels when you watch your life go by, you don’t recognize yourself, and you don’t know where to go from here.”

Authentic, majestic and beautifully honest, “The Witness” is an incredibly fulfilling listen. This track is not to be missed! Connect with Jane Deaux X.O: Spotify | Instagram
