Highline - “Believe Me I’ll Run”

Sydney-based indie outfit Highline have just released the superb indie pop-rock song, “Believe Me I’ll Run.”

Believe Me I’ll Run” is, in all ways, a traditional indie pop rock composition. Built around the mellow tones of acoustic rhythm guitar, you are immediately drawn into the arrangement. A steady drum groove propels the track forward as bass warmly pulses and electric guitar heightens the reflective vibes.

As the choruses unfold, the music rousingly lifts with a great sense of soul-stirring spirit. Lead guitar is subtly introduced here, adding a pleasing sense of depth and feeling. Believe Me I’ll Run utilizes a satisfying ebb and flow, returning back to the underlying reflective vibes for the musical break and bridge.

It is the soulful vocal performance of Sam Rigney that truly makes this song special. Full of emotional expression, you cannot help but want to sing along after a few plays. The delivery also brings an authentic weight to the lyrics that are tinged in vulnerability.

On the lyrics, Rigney explains: “‘Believe Me I’ll Run’ is an admission of sorts that you’re all in on a relationship, regardless of whether the other person is feeling the same way.”

Believe Me I’ll Run” is, quite simply, a soul-stirring gem that feels completely timeless. This modern classic is taken from the debut album, Shapes We Figure Out, releasing 19th April. You can order a copy on vinyl here.
