Floral Couches - “Heaven Is Home (with you)”

Nashville-based Cody Gray, aka Floral Couches, lands on our blog with a hypnotic blend of soul and psychedelia in his new single, “Heaven Is Home (with you),” featuring Smooth Rogers.
This track is the epitome of bedroom pop, initially entering our ears with some of the most vibey organ tones we’ve ever heard. Moments later, the thick, retro-tinged and lo-fi rhythm section appears, likely causing you to slow dance with whomever happens to be in the same room as you– fair warning if you press play on this pop-musical-beast while at work.
Gray’s vocal performance is truly delightful, remarkably at home with this style of music as it matches perfectly with the genre. He initially wrote “Heaven Is Home (with you)“ as a serenade to his wife, so it makes sense that it will likely end up on every single playlist that people create for their mates.
On the second half of the song, you will find the zing and sparkle of Zac Bron of Smooth Rogers, who also helped in producing the track. And even though we are not easily won over by the use of synth, something profoundly cosmic and magical is happening here as the song sends you on an introspective, blissful ride through its soundscape.
This is our first glimpse at the work of Floral Couches, but we certainly hope it is not the last. As you begin this last workweek before the holidays, carve out about three and a half minutes to get “Heaven Is Home (with you)” into your ears.
