A Band Called Ma - “RIOT”

Austin, Texas-based duo A Band Called Ma once again appear on our blog with their magnificent indie artistry. This time, join us as we explore the epic and energetic sounds of their latest single, “RIOT.”

Although this track is more upbeat than their previous release, that does not stop the initial strums of the guitar from providing a dreamy and multilayered underbelly. A few moments after pressing play, the track is joined by the rhythm section, thick and relentless as it provides a hefty forward momentum. A marvelous veneer of glistening and melodious feedback pads the tune, letting “RIOT” stretch its lengthy arms to the far ends of the production.

Remaining consistent with their formula and craft, A Band Called Ma provide a sublime highlight in the vocal department. The lyrics are delivered in waves of reverberating bliss, again adding to the dreamy aspect of their signature sound. They are joined by wonderful harmonies that offer a fantastic width to the arrangement. And, of course, for fans of shoegaze, the wall that they’ve fashioned from stacks of guitars is sure to leave you more than satiated.

Upon hearing “RIOT,” it is impossible not to long to witness it performed live; thus, we are very pleased to report that they are bringing it to the stage in the new year.
