Hang Ten - “It Takes Two”

Appleton, Wisconsin-based Hang Ten are no strangers to the blog and after months of not returning our calls, they have once again emerged to slip us a dreamy, indie-rocking aural delight: “It Takes Two.”

In true and glorious Hang Ten fashion, the track bursts to life with a gentle and delicious groove, held tightly together by the bass and drums, with flourishes of vibey guitar strew across the top. Upon the arrival of the keys, our ears are met with a hook that has been shaped via subdued layers of vocals. Straight out of the gate, this tune is designed to make you feel good, superbly checking off all of our dream-pop boxes.

Ear candy enters your ears by way of psychedelically effected guitar tones, tastefully displayed in order to enhance the vibe. A major selling point, however, is the fact that there is a subtle and constant harmony in the vocal department, providing a level of dreaminess and width that we wish more artists would utilize in the songs that they send to us.

This track is an exemplar for how a simple foundation can carve a path that provides an embodiment of dynamic fluctuation. By experimenting with multiple layers of vibrant sounds, Hang Ten have knocked it out of the proverbial park with “It Takes Two.”
