Gileah Taylor - “Dream Explorer”

North Florida-based indie-folk songwriter Gileah Taylor has just released the soothing sounds of “Dream Explorer,” a glimpse into her forthcoming LP, Slow Parade, due out in April via Velvet Blue Music.

For those of you who enjoy the delicately chill sounds of some flamenco guitar, strap on a good set of headphones and press play. “Dream Explorer” begins promptly with Taylor’s soft vocal, warmly reminiscent of Adrianne Lenker as she weaves a gentle tale of longing to be seen. Accompanied solely by acoustic guitar, the first stretch of the tune bears a stripped-back and intimate journey through her late-night introspection.

The arrival of the hook gives rise to some elegant strings and the first glimpses of the flamenco-style guitar. Taylor reaches into her upper register to deliver the emotional mother lode, igniting a path that ultimately reveals the sounds of some lo-fi drums, imbuing “Dream Explorer” with a barebones rhythm. At the height of the track’s crescendo awaits a spectacular display of classic, 1960s production, with a fantastic culmination of all the elements within the arrangement.

The final throw of the chorus reveals a spectacular vocal harmony, allowing “Dream Explorer” to gracefully return to the intimate textures of its beginning. For those of you who spend a great deal of time alone and longing for comfort, this tune is the best way to utilize the next two minutes and forty-five seconds of your time on Earth.
