Christopher Atkins - “Lonely Choir”

Victoria BC-based artist Christopher Atkins has just released the retro-tinged indie-folk song, “Lonely Choir,” a wonderfully contemplative tune with soothing melodies and gentle vocals.

Lonely Choir” is an incredibly inviting track, founded around hypnotic acoustic guitar tones that melodically weave throughout. Electric piano provides a chilled and dreamy sense of texture, with soft, bell-like tones. Bass pulses richly underneath as the drums push the song forward at a steady cadence. During the musical interludes, touches of woodwind enhance the song’s sense of elegance, whilst also enhancing the retro mood of the track.

The vocal of Atkins is delivered with a gentle storytelling vibe. There is something really endearing and authentic about the performance that really sets off the track. In places, whimsical backing vocals are applied in order to provide harmony or to enhance the lyrical story. Lyrically, the song is rich in contemplation and full of vivid, yet enjoyably casual imagery, like a snapshot into someone’s life.

Lonely Choir” is the latest single to be taken off Christopher Atkins upcoming album, Another Year, and we encourage you to enjoy it with us.
