Fuji Gateway - “Tuesdays, Am I Right?”

North Carolina-based Fuji Gateway has just released the strikingly chilled, modern psychedelic track “Tuesdays, Am I Right?

Tuesdays, Am I Right?” opens to bright electric guitar that provides a shimmering sense of texture. Synth meditatively pads the arrangement, luring you deeper into the composition with its subtly shifting tones. These elements drift effortlessly over the irresistible rhythm section. There is almost a slow waltzing swagger to the relaxed drum groove, whilst the bass guitar creates a sensation of a slow rocking pulse.

As the track progresses, there is a striking sense of ebb and flow as layers are removed to highlight the magnificent beauty of the bass tones. Tambourine is added in these sections as a contrast, helping to maintain the forward percussive groove. The final sections of the song are set alight by the lush, retro-tinged guitar solo. Just like the other elements in the composition, it has a wonderful sense of free-flowing expressiveness as the notes gently cascade and roll.

The vocals on this track remain consistently in the higher falsetto registers. This creates a light, but rich otherworldly vibe. The vocal is beautifully supported by breezy backing vocals that colour the song in all the right places with chilled releases of emotion. Lyrically, the song explores the emotional ups and downs of being human. It also touches on how drugs and alcohol are sometimes used to manage these emotions.

Fuji Gateway’s “Tuesdays, Am I Right?” is an expressive slice of modern psychedelia that soars effortlessly over the listener. You do not want to miss out on this one.
