Daniel Trakell - “Folk Song #2”

Melbourne-based Daniel Trakell has just released “Folk Song #2,” the latest single from his forthcoming album.

True to its form, “Folk Song #2” begins exactly the way that it should: with the most delightful of sounds pouring from an acoustic guitar. We don’t have to wait long until Trakell’s voice appears, drenched in vintage vibe as it preaches the gospel of the good times that never seem to last. It is not at all difficult to imagine this song being performed in your living room; it is truly one of the most intimate and heartfelt performances we’ve heard in quite some time. If you frequent our blog, you’ll know that we are fans of the melancholic and introspective tunes, and you will find that here in droves.

Once the vocal harmonies arrive, it will be blatantly obvious as to why we’re featuring this track on our blog. They are delicate and perfectly placed, soaring above the rhythm in a fashion that no software could ever replicate. “Folk Song #2” maintains a purity that makes it completely believable, in every regard. At just over a minute deep, we are joined by the bass and some soft percussion, both serving to widen the already flawless production. Much like all of our favorite folk songs, this track is timeless– it could very well be a long-lost song from the ‘60s, but, lucky for all of us, it is available everywhere today. Give it a spin:
