Darién Geep - “Corners of my Fantasy”

Darién Geep‘s latest release, “Corners of my Fantasy,” is a stripped-back, funky, psych song built on a lush, pulsing rhythm and a great, dark, chugging bass line.

The song has some really nice retro tones, but also feels fresh. The stripped-back atmosphere of the song allows the vocal to really shine, as well as highlight the great splashes of sounds that are used sparingly. Along with the guitar, an unusual stringed instrument is used to flesh out the melody in unexpected places over the verses. On the chorus, the guitars beautifully riff over a nice mellow key sound.

As the song progresses, the use of effects on the drums are added, creating a psychedelic feel, while the guitar parts become fuzzy and distorted as they begin to groove. The song develops a great, funky feel towards the end, which definitely leaves the listener wanting more. The female vocal sets the music off perfectly with some fantastic, gentle tones. The lyrics are about having a fantasy about someone you like– they are dreamy and reflective and perfectly complement the overall vibe of the song.

Corners of my Fantasy” is a unique and captivating song that blends just the right amount of psych and indie rock together to make it an absolute banger.
