Cam Wilson - “Best of It”

New Zealand-born, London-based singer-songwriter Cam Wilson took a break from life in a Tuscan mountain cabin. It is there that he composed his new EP and, from this body of work, we are delighted to share the heartfelt and folksy sounds of “Best of It.”

The song begins with quite a catchy phrase from an acoustic guitar, which ultimately becomes the main melody of the verses. Above the soft, percussive heartbeat of the track, we knew right away that there was something special occurring here.

Wilson’s vocal performance has not been tarnished with modern production, and “Best of It” enters your ears as though he is sitting next to you, sharing this message of hope. To pad the arrangement, there is some distant, synthy ambience, but only enough to provide a sense of space to the soundscape.

As the track progresses, more layers are added, including some ethereal elements that lend a glorious width to the composition. However, it is around the three-minute mark that Wilson’s voice lifts into its upper register, delivering a performance that we simply could not resist.

If “Best of It” is indicative of what the rest of the EP will embody, we truly cannot wait to hear the rest of it.
