Brent de la Cruz - “Day To Day”

From San Diego, California, Brent de la Cruz has just released the rich and emotive indie pop rock track, “Day To Day.”

Ebbing and flowing arrestingly, “Day To Day” is a masterclass in slick, tactile music production. Non-stop we are drenched in unrelenting, tight textural contrasts that are undeniably immersive. Throughout, we are cinematically swept off our feet with glitchy textures, juggernaut-like drums, hazy keys, velvety reverbed ambiance and the low-slung swagger of electric guitar. Brent de la Cruz bends every element at his disposal to create art that is brooding, slow burning but also rousingly anthemic.

While the composition is unquestionably coated in a pleasant modern psychedelic haze, it never loses sight of the pop hooks necessary for any certified banger. It is music equally concerned with the vibe pulsing through the party as it is with the frequency resonating in your soul.

Almost like a hallucination expressed with nonchalant coolness, Brent de la Cruz’s vocal style gives off the impression he is stumbling through a dream he has half-forgotten he was having. The stream of consciousness delivery not only guides us effortlessly through the composition but also seems like the fitting delivery to relay the tracks meaning that explores rituals, routine and longing.

Brent de la Cruz adds: “Day To Day was one of those songs that pretty much wrote itself. 99% of it was written, produced, and tracked in just a few hours. Some songs just bring a certain electricity into the room - this was one of those.”

Confident, skilfully immersive pop rock that can’t help but take you for a joyride, “Day To Day” is out now via Alter Music. Connect with Brent de la Cruz: Spotify | Instagram | Bandcamp
