B.Miles - “Backseat Lovers”

B.Miles is making a habit out of releasing indie pop tunes that instantly resonate with listeners. This time, she has unveiled the stunningly dreamy sounds of “Backseat Lovers.”

We still know very little about this artist, so we must once again let the music do all the talking. We do know that this cut comes from B.Miles’ newly released album, Different Pages, from which we have also featured the astonishing aural sensations “The Year I Felt Cool,” “Wide Eyed,” and, of course, the title track, “Different Pages.”

Backseat Lovers” begins with a lo-fi beat that drives forth a somewhat trippy, guitar-driven arrangement. The melody is simultaneously playful and slightly melancholic, but extremely catchy and, spoilers, likely to induce an ear worm. The bass line is righteously juxtaposed by B.Miles chill and soothing vocal, faultlessly performed and resulting in a triumphant display of dream pop perfection.

Reaching into her bag of vocal tricks, B.Miles completely nails our weakness for ethereally displayed harmonies, adding depth to the song’s atmosphere and giving us a variety of reasons to return to the play button. B.Miles warns that the record “might verge on too much honesty,” however, with lines like “My friends still tell me, “don’t you ever write scared…” But my words could break your skin,” we’d say that it was completely worth it.

Wherever you are in this world, carve out about forty-one minutes and give the entire album a spin:
