Blondes - “Beautiful World”

Nottingham-based indie rockers Blondes are back on the blog with another taste from their forthcoming EP, In Separation. This time, they’ve come up from the basement to blur the lines between rock and pop with the new single, “Beautiful World.”

The soothing tones from a guitar begin the song, setting the pace for this track’s gentle groove. The bpm is high enough to get your foot tapping, but low enough to allow every listener to gently sway in the breeze of life. With “Beautiful World,” the vocals are what ultimately won us over. Everything about them, from their delivery to the lyrical content, are successful in setting a very dream-like mood, complete with some effects and production choices that suit the song very well.

The structure here is quite simple, with just a couple of verses and a few choruses, but the sonic bliss is genuine and the message is one that we all need to hear (and keep hearing). No immediate comparisons can be drawn, but this track would fit quite comfortably in any playlist containing Day Wave, Peach Pit, and/ or Alvvays. “Beautiful World” is melodic reminder that music can shorten the distance between people’s hearts and minds and potentially save the world.

About ”Beautiful World,” Alex from Blondes adds that it “feels like our first proper pop song. It’s my favourite that we’ve written so far. It’s about our relationship with our environment and each other. We wrote it to speak not just for ourselves but to anyone that finds themselves looking around at our world and wondering just how we’ve become so disconnected from one another and the planet. We hope you like it.”
