A review of “Black Swan Dive”

Admittedly, I am the last person who should be writing a review for a rap artist, but “Black Swan Dive” reached into me and stirred up some emotions that needed stirring.

This collaboration between Jibba the Gent and Rico James hits those dark places that reside inside each of us, nailing it down with the hook: “I wanna swan dive into a black hole/ I don’t wanna die/ I just wanna know where it goes.” The key ingredients here, for me, and what kept me listening from the beginning, was the ghostly guitar loop and that slow, steady beat, which finally hits around the 50 second mark.

It’s deep. It’s moody. And with lines like “What happens to the dreams we forget,” it has won me over as a listener.
