Benni - “Make Me Blind”

Sit back and prepare to be swept away by “Make Me Blind,” the latest indie folk release from Belgium-based singer-songwriter Benni.

In all honesty, this tune will carry you away on a dreamy breeze of sound as soon as you press the play button. “Make Me Blind” instantly fills your ears with the slow sway of an arrangement that boasts a thick, late-1960s sheen, complete with warm, melodic bass and ghostly slide guitar. Within the first five seconds, we knew this song was a keeper.

Benni’s vocal soon arrives, lovingly reminiscent of Phoebe Bridgers and Birdy, delivering lyrics that delicately traverse the highest peaks of affection. Like the arrangement, her voice has been wrapped in an authentic blanket of nostalgic vibes and we suddenly want to play this song for everyone we have ever known.

Upon the arrival of the chorus, the production lifts, bringing music lovers complete and total sonic satisfaction. Benni wonderfully stretches her breathy vocal performance into its upper register, leaving listeners with a hook that is bound to resonate within them long after the song has ended.

Make Me Blind” is the second single from Benni’s forthcoming EP, Bleeding Colours, and we loved it so much that we simply had to check out the first. Released back in January, “September 20” embarks upon a journey that is much more melancholic, relying on a piano-driven arrangement that is padded by digital, reverse-tape artifacts.

Benni’s vocal, again, brings a great depth to the production, culminating in a sound that is impossible to resist. The arrangement within “September 20” is quite sparse in its appearance, but patient listeners shall be rewarded with a grand wave of emotion as the track reaches its epic crescendo.

Please join us as we eagerly await the EP to be released on April 26. If “Make Me Blind” and “September 20” are indicative of what the rest of Bleeding Colours will include, we guarantee that you will find the remainder of its contents featured here.
