Bad Mother Nature - “Now You’re Gone”

Sacramento rock band Bad Mother Nature have just released their third single, “Now You're Gone.” The track comes ahead of their EP, A Thousand Days of Desert Rain and Madness, which is due to drop in early 2023 (just a few weeks away).

The lyrics of “Now You're Gone” artfully examine loss, regret, and the deceptions that can be involved in romantic love. The song's structure and elements highlight the group's dedicated artistry. There appear to be classy nods to Bread and the Eagles, including all the great elements from their string of hits that stand like mountains in musical history. With the help of backing vocals, Bad Mother Nature masterfully evoke the magic of the 1970s. I even detect a little bit of Pink Floyd in certain places.

The song's musical foundation is a piano that drives the groove amid bouncing percussion beats. Some very exquisite Americana guitar licks are interspersed, adding warmth and enhancing the lyrical undertones like a great whiskey. The song also benefits from a really good rhythmic addition provided by an acoustic guitar. Ear candy is kept to a minimum, with only reversed hand claps creating a really excellent break in the song.

Bad Mother Nature have really delivered the goods here. I take my hat off to them.
