ASHRR - “Fizzy”

Los Angeles-based trio ASHRR have arrived on our blog with the superbly chill sounds of their new single, “Fizzy.”

After a brief and lo-fi intro, “Fizzy embarks on its retro-imbued rhythmic course, complete with a toe-tap-inducing beat and a bass tone that harkens back to the golden age of disco. The sound is instantly uplifting and perfect for breathing life into your spirit upon the beginning of another workweek.

Layers of synthy phrases are interwoven throughout the arrangement, providing a significant source of ear candy as well as widening the sonic space. Vibey guitar is, of course, also present and wonderfully adds to the classic, psychedelic discotheque flavor. It is impossible to hear “Fizzy” and not be completely enchanted by its energetic charm and fervor.

Finally, a major highlight here is the vocal performance. And while many artists who dip their toes into this style will divulge in autotune, ASHRR manage to maintain a truly authentic delivery, which completely sells us on the sound. Warm tubes ignite each line of lyrics, with supporting layers emerging at all the right places– the overall craftsmanship is impeccable.

Patience shall reward your ears with a darkened dynamic shift that occurs just past midpoint. As this bass-driven section gradually builds, incorporating flourishing vocal lines and crescendoing guitar, we cannot think of a better soundtrack to kick off your week.
