Lyla DiPaul - “Aquarius Tendencies”
Lyla DiPaul is an American recording artist based out of New Orleans and she has just released her beautiful new song, “Aquarius Tendencies.”
“Aquarius Tendencies” is a delicate and emotive song that starts off with a warm, nostalgic crackle, as if it’s being played off of a beloved record– something that holds memories and this suits the lyrical content of the track. Lyla, essentially, is in a conversation and expressing her feelings to someone that she loves. The acoustic guitar work is exquisite, with a slow fingerpicking rhythm that sets the tone and gives a melancholic feel. The percussion is gentle and adds a nice touch to the overall sound. The high piano notes that peek through the mix are a lovely addition, adding to the mood that Lyla is creating for the listener. The chorus sections are particularly striking, thanks to the emotive performance– one that is never over the top. The second chorus features lovely backing vocals that add a sense of growing emotion. Although the song is short, it leaves a lasting impression, mainly due to Lyla’s wonderful vocals.
