Andi Fins - “Lost and Blue”

German artist Andi Fins returns with the striking indie pop track “Lost and Blue.” The carefree and breezy composition is brimmed full of wistful yet provocative textures, which makes this track a delight to hear.

Lost and Blue” opens to a quickly paced, light shuffling drum beat with a swaggering kick. The bass pulses warmly underneath with a lush, deep, clean tone. The groove is tight and infectious and is exquisitely enhanced by shaker and additional percussion. Soft and mellow bell-toned electric piano sustains and melts gently underneath, helping to pad the arrangement.

As the track progresses, rich electric lead guitar enters, riffing brightly. This layer helps to further flesh out the track’s dreamy melody, whilst providing a satisfying sense of width and space. The guitar also cements the retro tones that are embodied at the heart of the song. Piano contrasts this brighter texture as it lends weight and sophistication to the groove. These layers are applied thoughtfully, helping to create an ebb and flow in the composition and growing the dynamics.

The vocal of Andi Fins is inviting in tone and feels fun and playful. It effortlessly reaches its falsetto and is accompanied by creative and well executed backing vocals. The performance contrasts beautifully with the underlying melancholy that is contained in the lyrics.

Lost and Blue” is a compelling track and is arranged in a highly creative way. Texture and melody are allowed to effortlessly breathe and flow, allowing the retro tinged groove to get under your skin.
