Ailbhe Reddy - “So Quickly, Baby”

Dublin-born singer-songwriter Ailbhe Reddy arrives on the blog with the indie rock goodness of “So Quickly, Baby.”

Drawing inspiration from the likes of Phoebe Bridgers and Julia Jacklin, “So Quickly, Baby” excels at reaching anthemic heights, primarily during its soaring refrains. These rich and robust hooks are wonderfully juxtaposed with the quiet vulnerability of the verses, which places an emphasis on Reddy’s intentional “tug-of-war between grace and chaos.”

So Quickly, Baby” provides listeners with delicious servings of ebb and flow, as its dynamic sections are marked by bouts of lone acoustic guitar and full-band performances. These elements mirror the lyrical content– the push and pull between trying to be the bigger person while simultaneously wondering why your ex isn’t as miserable as you are.

Betwixt the verses and choruses, “So Quickly, Baby” reveals momentary lapses into intimately-charged breakdowns, complete with ethereal vocals and ambient, submersed production. Reddy adds that the song is “about the aftershock of a breakup…That liminal space where you’re equal parts sad, hopeful, terrified, and probably a bit delusional.”

So Quickly, Baby” arrives ahead of Reddy’s new album, Kiss Big, due to hit the streamers on January 30. Connect with Ailbhe Reddy here: Spotify | YouTube | Bandcamp | Instagram | Facebook
