A review of “Love Sick,” by 3Mind Blight

3Mind Blight releases so many songs in a year’s time that we had to snatch up “Love Sick” for a review before he revealed another one!

The totality of his work remains unclassifiable under any specific genre, as he often leaps from metal to hip hop, from pop to rock, and from acoustic to straight up orchestral. “Love Sick,” on its own, however, is an undeniable nod at good, old-fashioned grunge and/or post-grunge. It seems that Alice in Chains and Shinedown may be among his influences, as I hear a great deal of them in this track, from the lone, opening reverberated guitar lick, to the growling melancholy in the vocal delivery. The lyrics, too, paint that somewhat familiar image of darkness, despair, and angst– which, admittedly, brings on a certain welcomed air of nostalgia. While I would have enjoyed some Cantrell-esque vocal harmonies on the hook, as a fair tradeoff, we get a sweet guitar solo that carries us into the final chorus. “Love Sick” would go great with any relationship’s demise.
