Whitehall - “Rose“

Just when we were worried that nothing would make us feel good this week, South Carolina’s Whitehall landed in our submission box with their fresh track, “Rose.”

Recently signed to Enci Records, Whitehall’s new single, “Rose,” opens with a reverberated guitar and vocals, joined shortly by the rest of the band and offering us a bouncing rhythm that is sure to repel the thoughts of one’s impending seasonal depression. At the 2:50 mark, we are greeted with a ‘shaking-like-a-mofo’ tambourine and a bit of an energy boost that is bound to hold the listener’s interest while simultaneously adding some extra pep in your step. But they’re not done with you yet– they’ve still got a minute and a half left of this endorphin-inducing joint, including some well placed changes and robust melody enhancements. It is definitely a song designed for driving with the windows down, so be sure to squeeze it in before winter rips out our souls.

The band says, "“Rose” is about communication. When we write music, it often feels like there's an underlying pressure to say something new or profound. The song wrestles with the dichotomy between being 'sick of meaning anything,' and the insecurity that comes with the fact that the things we communicate through our work is being imbued with meaning whether we like it or not."

Whitehall has released a pair of albums, along with their recent Garden Song EP, which was released earlier this year. Watch for more new music from the band to be dropped later this year. You can also catch them on tour with The Goo Goo Dolls:

If you would like your song to be considered for our “feel-good track of the week,” you will have to get off your ass and send it to us.
