Valère Géron - “You Don’t Want My Heart”

The first time you crack open “You Don’t Want My Heart,” by Valère Géron, your mind may become riddled with comparisons to Amy Winehouse, The Police, and even Fitz and the Tantrums. However, please do not be fooled by this reaction; Géron has a style all to his own, letting his retro, soulful vocals glide over the top of this infectious groove– including a bass line that was laid down by Belgian multi-instrumentalist David La Mela.

This is the kind of track that sounds like a hit as soon as you hit play and would easily hold its own next to anything currently being played on any radio station, anywhere in the world. Having only been released at the beginning of the month, it is already doing quite nicely on Spotify, reeling in nearly 12,000 streams. This is, however, Géron’s only release to date, so he has definitely set his own bar; only time can tell if his future compositions will have the potential to keep folks moving once “You Don’t Want My Heart” has filled the dance floor. And, my friends, it is definitely going to fill it. Press play and see for yourselves.
