Under The Rug - “Lonesome & Mad”

Under The Rug are an authentic, indie-folk/ Americana outfit from Austin, TX. They recently visited Los Angeles, where they embarked upon a recording adventure in which they begat their upcoming LP, Homesick For Another World. Based upon the title of the record and the new single they’ve just released, “Lonesome & Mad,” y’all better start saving your nickels so you can purchase this here folksy beast.

“Lonesome & Mad” is a raw, gritty, and heartfelt number that features honest vocals which drift in and out of three-part harmonies for its duration– it is quite the lovely production. Add to that the slide guitar of Ariel Posen and what you have is all the makings for the next staple in modern folk music. This isn’t just another acoustic-guitar-and-doubled-vocals campaign; this is the kind of song that has the ability to echo through saloons and stadiums alike and is on the level of something that even The Lumineers would happily play as an encore.

And we cannot forget the video. While showcasing Under The Rug’s audible talent, it also displays their fantastic sense of humor. And what’s cool about this is that you get the idea that this band, knowing they’ve just released a kickass tune, does not let their knack for songwriting go to their heads, as they seem like they would just as easily abandon a gig to be there for a friend in need, then gladly lose their minds until everyone in the room was having a good time. We proudly declare ourselves as fans.
