Lina K.O. - “Two-Player Mode”

Lina K.O. is back on the blog with another beautiful tune, entitled “Two-Player Mode.” It’s a delicate, indie rock song with tons of vibe. I know reviewers like to write about vibe, but hear me out… this is what vibe sounds like. The economical arrangement has just the right amount of groove, harmonic interest, and ear candy to surround the brilliant vocals.

The lyrics are just cryptic enough to keep me wondering: is life getting in the way of love? Is there more to it than that? She sings, “I’m reaching for the nuclear phone, but I don’t know the password. You go ahead and make a home. I’ll catch up after.” Is this relationship working? It doesn’t seem like it, but I can tell you for sure that this song is working. Big drums and the perfect reverb are just the start of all that is good with this. Guitars breathe perfectly, but, ultimately, it’s the wonderful, lilting vocal that will keep this song on repeat. Or is it the vibe? It’s all of the above, I think. You will see... or rather hear what I mean. Go ahead! Push play and prove me right.

Lina K.O. describes her music as “digitally-infused melancholic indie,” and goes on to say that “this song is the rock song of my EP. It's mellow, moody, a bit grungy, but upbeat.”
