Rare Hearts is coming out swinging with “Tough Guy.” This rocker is dripping with attitude and style, like the sweat from Mike Tyson’s tattooed brow. From garage rock riffs to immersive atmospherics, the changeups serve as a one-two punch of punishing rock goodness. Just when the riffing has you on the ropes, the reverb-drenched guitars give you a moment to catch your breath before you’re getting pummeled again. It’s an effective method of exploiting my weakness for the unexpected. I’m down for the count…and back up for the count in.

Leading with a hit “In This City,” Iglu & Hartly is reissuing their Debut LP, & Then Boom, on September 28th. I’ve never heard something quite like this song, but it’s very tasty. Hooks abound, propelled by a fantastic mix and an inventive blend of sonic textures that make for an infectious tune from these alternative pop rockers. They are a unique band, but fans of Fun. will certainly want to check them out!
Ne’er-do-well is back with another track from the future EP, Fun Days! “Feel No Pain” has me reaching for my spandex pants—j/k I don’t have any. Forget I mentioned them. And if I did have some, you wouldn’t see me in them…
Somehow they made this flashback vibe sound fresh and modern. Pounding kick drum gets things going with guitar riffing close behind. Crowds will stand and rock horns will rise! After grunge stabbed glam in the heart, I feel like this could have been a risky move, but that raspy vocal is on point! All I can say is damn, this is a ridiculously good version of rock that was made to be played under swirling, colored lights while wearing crazy patterned man-tights!
