The Zinvandels - “Blackholes”

Well shake my rattle and ring my bell! I was in the mood for a rip-roaring rocker and “Blackholes” from the Zinvandels popped the top on a bottle of satisfaction! Chugging in with a riff so effective in its simplicity that even a fetus would raise its umbilical chord in a toast to its catchiness, this song gets a going with solid aplomb! And when that second guitar screeches in with its first hook, I’m biting like a hungry fish!

Vocals can “make or break” a band and here those duties are shared among two members, a recipe applied in a way that definitely falls into the “make” category. Verses churn and build with table-tapping gusto and the chorus delights with unexpected orchestration, a cooking bass line, and a cool melody. Relatable lyrics keep things interesting with a chorus that starts: “There’s an angel on my shoulder trying to get to somewhere else...” I could tell you how it ends, but you’ll want to hear it for yourself. So, what are you waiting for? Go have a listen!
