The Baker’s Basement - “Sure Enough Another Swell”

From Cleveland, Ohio, we’d like to welcome indie folk duo Kate Dedinsky and Adam Grindler, aka The Baker’s Basement, and their delightfully raw and nostalgic new single, “Sure Enough Another Swell.”

The track first captures the attention of the listener with some softly played acoustic guitar, accompanied by subtle hints of the duo’s signature bucket drum kit. That’s right, folks– we often go on and on about our love for stripped-back productions, and it simply does not get any more straightforward than homemade instruments.

Sure Enough Another Swell” comes equipped with a delightful ear-worm melody from the guitar, as well as layers of vocals from both Dedinsky and Grindler. Their consistent harmonies spread a divine layer of authenticity across the sonic space and we cannot help but imagine the song as a portal into an intimate, private performance.

At times, it is quite easy to catch a glimpse of the more playful side to The Baker’s Basement, particularly in the “duh dum dum” segments of the lyrics, but it is also extremely obvious that they take their craft very seriously. “Sure Enough Another Swell” is filled with emotionally-charged, quivering vocals and a profound sense of nostalgia that we have not been able to shake since first hearing the song.

Sure Enough Another Swell” is the first we are hearing from this Cleveland-based duo, but we certainly hope that they are cooking up more sweet dishes in their basement, because we are already starving for the next course.
