Luke Sital-Singh - “Strange Weather”

Luke Sital-Singh’s “Strange Weather” is a beautiful track, starting with its gentle acoustic fingerpicking. Splashes of atmospheric electric guitar and textured soundscapes are gently added as the song starts to develop. There is bright and airy sound to this song, which is created through the generous doses of reverb. This not only helps pad the song, but also creates a sense of depth and space. As the song progresses, different sounds are gradually added, like the violin. The electric guitar grows in intensity, but none of these elements steal the show.

Vocally, the delivery is soft and airy, with a nice tone that effortlessly reaches falsetto notes near the end of the song. The lyrics are poignant and introspective, touching on themes of love, loss, and the passage of time. “Strange Weather” is a beautifully crafted song with plenty of atmosphere– excuse the pun– as well as a hefty dose of character.

About the song, Luke comments: “Weather is a big metaphor… It affects your mood and how you look at life. Rain makes everything worse. If it’s sunny again, the problems are there, but they seem easier to deal with. I’ve never made note of the atmosphere before. The metaphor carried on for me, because everything was strange after the Pandemic. ‘Strange Weather’ was a summary of the EP and how I felt in general.”
