Peppler - “Straight Up Breakdown”

Berlin-based singer-songwriter Peppler has just released some super smooth and dreamy folk music that he has titled “Straight Up Breakdown.” This is the third single from his upcoming album, One Night Out of Time, and it will take you straight back to the illustrious and vibrant sounds of the ‘70s.

Peppler wastes no time introducing you to his rich and flavorful sound, as the drums, bass, and guitars all begin together, with an acoustic hammering out the melody. It is immediately reminiscent of both Neil Young and Buffalo Springfield in its vibe and quality. Then, when Peppler starts singing, if you are not immediately transported back in time by a few decades, we will refund your cost of admission because this dude has the tone and spirit of an entire musical generation vibrating though his vocal cords.

Straight Up Breakdown” is sonic perfection, especially if you find yourself longing for the days before the digital revolution. The vocal harmonies, the organ, the dramatic syncopation– it is all exactly where it should be. And because this track is so wonderfully performed and produced, the emotion is right there with it– both inside the song and within the listener. And if you are patient, you will be rewarded with a fantastically psychedelic organ solo, followed shortly by a spotlight on some dazzling over-driven guitar. Yes, folks, this song has it all, with nary a sign of modern, computer-aided wizardry– as though it were plucked from the 1970s and delivered to us by some time traveling music enthusiast.
