‘Settle Down’ with Stone Mile

Manchester’s Stone Mile serve up a spoonful of indie rock goodness with their freshest release, “Settle Down,” a song about only needing oneself in order to find true happiness. They throw in all of the usual ingredients for this delightful dish: guitar, bass, drums, and vocals, yet the presentation is unique, with only enough familiarity to draw the most vague of comparisons to others in their genre. The verse is an enjoyable, bouncy ride and the punchy chorus successfully drives it home. While the band might pay homage to their influences in their bio, I assure you that they’ve managed to carve out a nice, little space of their own in this vast world of indie music. If you decide to dive in, give their previous release, “Circular Quay,” a bonus spin for a widened perspective of their songwriting capabilities, as well as a more diverse vocal performance.
