St.Arnaud - “It’s Cool”

Singer-songwriter St.Arnaud, from Edmonton, Canada, has just released the velvety and nostalgic “It’s Cool.”

It’s Cool” is a direct, open, and enjoyable listen filled with melodic and humorous songwriting– the kind that wouldn’t be out of place on a cherished early 1970s deep cut. It is a joyous blend of indie pop, soul and soft rock designed to put you in a chilled mood. It is meticulously layered, polished, swaying, and effortlessly warm.

The track is built over a relaxed drum groove which is beautifully animated by the funky bass. As they work together you can feel them enticing you onto the dance floor to breezily cut some shapes. Rhythm electric guitar takes a back seat in the mix which only adds to the 1970s vibes allowing the keys to foster a soft, rounded atmosphere and the trumpet to give a lush rousing sophistication.

The vocal is smooth, vibrant, and as playful as the musical layers behind it. Delivered with a conversational confidence it is surrounded by lush, warm group backing vocals that work in tandem delivering the lines or padding gently with stacked “ooo” and “ahhs.” The performance is nothing short of radio friendly in the best possible way.

On the track Ian St.Arnaud adds: “The refrain ‘it’s cool’ becomes the thing you tell yourself when life is clearly anything but, it’s about that gap between what you show the world and what’s actually going on inside.”

It’s Cool” is that effortless, uplifting track your playlist dearly needed. The track is taken from the new album, St. Arnaud, which is out now via Cordova Bay Records. Connect with St.Arnaud: Bandcamp | Spotify | Instagram | TikTok | Facebook | Website
