Sleepy Pearls - “The Water Song”

We simply cannot resist a good R&B-infused dream pop tune, so when we heard the new one from Sleepy Pearls, entitled “The Water Song,” we knew that we had no choice but to feature it on the blog.

This thing is 50% guitar, 50% vocals, and infinity percent vibe. Seriously, from the first notes of the vintage-tinged electric guitar, listeners will know that they have pressed play on the perfect soundtrack to whatever moment they’re in the middle of experiencing. And once the rhythm falls into place, bringing along with it a soft beat and thick bass, the heavenly vocals are soon to follow.

We do not know much about Sleepy Pearls, but the submission declared that Violette’s voice is responsible for these tender melodies that are now entering our ears. Coated in a fine sheen of reverb, the vocals flow across the soundscape in mighty, ethereal layers. And though no lyrics were included, we can only assume that “The Water Song” earns its name by the way its luscious sound waves wash over your soul.

If you’re out and about, determined to hold on tightly to the last remnants of summer, “The Water Song” is the perfect companion for the ride.

And we’re not just gonna leave you hanging… If you pressed play on “The Water Song” and, like us, fell in love with the sound, do not miss the more raw and stripped-back production of their previous release, “Pardon Me.” This lo-fi, folksy gem is barely over two minutes in length, but the warble of the old-timey guitar tone will make you long for the days before digital manipulation. And the vocals, again, will reach right into you and stir your emotions, so do not be fooled by its more sparse arrangement– “Pardon Me” is another keeper.

Additionally, if you’re more of a visual listener, you will absolutely adore the video that Sleepy Pearls created for “Dreamweaver,” another delightful tune with a production that is closer to “The Water Song,” filled with more vibey guitar work and those exquisite layers of vocals:
