Signe Vange - “Dinosaur”

Denmark-based Signe Vange returns with the immersive ambient tinged dream pop track “Dinosaur.”

Dinosaur” is founded on a pulsating bass that has an almost mechanical-like quality to it. It is a pleasing contrast to the other musical elements that make up the track. Despite its texture, it warmly imbues a lush, meditative vibe. The song is propelled forward by a gentle drum groove that places a wonderful emphasis on the ride cymbal. This helps to enhance the smooth and free-flowing atmospherics.

Dressing the groove are ethereal and atmospheric padding textures that unfold dreamily as the track builds to its crescendo. Majestic and reverent organ-like synths sustain comfortingly and airily into the composition. Another unusual layer warbles again, heightening the mechanical-like undercurrents whilst distortion begins to permeate, creating an expansive, ambient vibe.

I cannot stress enough how vivid the layered vocal performance of Signe Vange is on “Dinosaur.” The harmonious layers feel like a soothing, soul-stirring orchestra that takes you on a spiritual journey. On this sweet track Signe Vange adds: “This tiny track is the closest I have ever come to letting out a roar. I originally imagined it as this sparse production with little other than vocals, but then I took it to the studio and things happened.”

Dinosaur” is the title track from Signe Vange’s new EP which is also out today. I am a fan and I can guarantee that you will become one as well, once you press play.
