Sad Boys Club - “Delicious”

It’s not often that we find a track that kicks as much indie ass as “Delicious” from London’s Sad Boys Club. Upon first listen, we decided that the bass tone alone was worth a blog feature. Because holy crap… It’s a freakin’ beast. So, here we go…

In true ‘90s rock fashion, “Delicious” begins with a couple bars of clean guitar before exploding into a full-band production. In fact, it’s so fantastic when it kicks in, that we’re willing to wager they wrote the song before they named it… Because ‘delicious’ is the only way we can think to describe it. And we really cannot get over this f’ing bass tone, grinding through its gears during the verse while the vocals ride this sonic wave. The lyrics are delivered effectively via over-driven tubes and we immediately realize that there is still much hope for this current generation of musicians.

And we would be remiss not to mention the guitars. Too often, songs fall victim to ego and overplaying, but not here– this dude knows when to engage and when to leave some room for his bandmates. And though the distortion here is mighty, there’s still some space left for the keys, until we finally get a tastefully delivered guitar solo before a dynamic break. And this is where Sad Boys Club show their craft because this break could very well be a completely different song, until it ultimately comes back around for a few more servings of that kickass chorus, followed by another snappy guitar solo. Ladies and gentlemen, this one is a keeper.

Delicious” comes from Sad Boys Club’s upcoming album, Lullabies From The Lightning Tree, due out on the 5th of May.
