Robert Kretzschmar - “Let It Be”

Berlin-based Robert Kretzschmar has just released the gorgeously mellow “Let It Be.” The track will instantly transport you into a tranquil and dreamy atmosphere with its retro tones. Kretzschmar, for me, captures the feel of The Velvet Underground, specifically from The Velvet Underground & Nico era.

Let It Be” is built around serene layers of electric guitar that melodically weave texture throughout the track. Some of these layers have the feeling of being slightly warped by tape, creating a warm and inviting ambiance. The warping feel also heightens the dreamlike quality to the music.

There is a gorgeous simplicity to this number that I love. Drums propel the song forward with a light thrust, whilst warmer bass tones pad the song. The track’s exquisite elegance is enhanced further by splashes of ascending and descending piano lines.

The lyrics are gorgeously poetic and fun and also have that lush Velvet Underground feel. They are delivered with Kretzschmar’s gentle vocal style and beautifully supported by fantastic, harmonizing backing layers.

Robert Kretzschmar’s “Let It Be” is a striking track full of great dreamy textures. The song is taken from his album, Homecoming, which is out now.
