Punk Rock Saturday

Cheer Up Dusty is what Blink-182 would probably sound like without all the dick and fart jokes. This quartet from Philadelphia, PA has a sound that is completely refined and unapologetically serious and we are very pleased to show you “Everybody Hates Me,” a track that we happened to find while scrolling through Instagram. Though it was released a few months back, it is brand new to us and, from the sounds of it, these guys know their way around a recording studio. And for Pete’s sake, if you people would put down Mario Cart long enough to read a ‘Punk Rock Saturday,’ you would know that we cannot say no to “Whoa-oh’s,” a crop of which these farmers-of-punk have in bushels.

Glasgow's Single By Sunday formed in 2015 and their roster of influences include: Blink-182, The 1975, and My Chemical Romance. While they do, indeed, fall underneath of the umbrella of punk, they have also been known to work other styles into their sound, including synth-pop and disco. Their latest track, “Reputation,” is a response to the ugliness of social media and “….was written about something that happened to one of the band members a few years ago. An untrue and ugly rumour posted on social media that spread, and that could have ruined a life and a career.” While the rumor was false, the fact that this track kicks ass is the brutal truth. I guess there’s nothing left for you to do but hit that play button:

Originally starting as a solo project, Boss’ Daughter quickly escalated into its current trio form, and are said to be “one of the hardest working bands in the underground punk scene.” After playing a slew of shows with the likes of Rise Against, Pennywise, Jeff Rosenstock, The Ataris, PEARS, Bridge City Sinners, Bad Cop/Bad Cop, it appears all of that hard work has finally paid off with their recent signing to SBÄM Records. Their album is finished and in line to be released ASAP, but we won’t leave you hanging without giving you a peek. Here is their latest single, titled “Okay Photography,” which is a two sided jobbie: “Okay” and “Photography.”

And for those of you who were hoping we’d post a video, here’s the video for “Photography:”

And finally, we have just received an email that contains some brand new material from The Mobros and, as we listened to the super secret forthcoming track, entitled “SSO” (to be released on October 30th), we were completely blown away… so we did some digging, the way we always do… and, low and behold, we found their remake of “I Fought the Law,” originally by The Crickets, but made into a punk sensation by The Clash, then, later, redone by The Dead Kennedy’s. Even though The Mobros are not necessarily a punk band, “I Fought the Law” covers all the bases, as far as we’re concerned, and should serve as a nice appetizer while we write up their feature for the October 30 release of “SSO.” You people are in for a real treat!
