Polhawan - “Hollow Moon”
From Bristol, UK, singer-songwriter Tim Rowing-Parker, aka Polhawan, has just released “Hollow Moon,” the second single from the forthcoming EP, Wild Mountain Time.
If slacker-folk-rock had a flagship sound, it would be Polhawan’s new single “Hollow Moon.” The song wears a generous sheen of lo-fi grit like a second skin, from the upbeat and hypnotic pulse of the drums to the slightly overdriven tone of the guitar. There’s a loose, lived-in charm here that feels like a juicy, full-bodied blend of Fairport Convention and Parquet Courts.
While the aforementioned elements are reason enough to press that play button, we must first introduce you to the most important ingredient: the vocal melody. Polhawan mastermind Rowing-Parker greets us with a performance that captures a raw, DIY sense of urgency, his voice walking the line between vulnerability and confidence, at times stacked with wonderfully layered harmonies.
If you love what you hear (and we know that you do), be sure to set a reminder on your fancy space phone for May 14th, when the rest of the EP shall be released via Breakfast Records. Until then, enjoy the hell out of “Hollow Moon” and connect with Polhawan here: Bandcamp | Instagram | Spotify
